Michelle has been following my work since the Cato and Pade days, way back when I had a business partner, 10 years ago.
Michelle tells me that straight after Mark proposed in New York , she jumped online, and contacted me 🙂 Thats pretty damn cool and so flattering as a photographer.
Michelle and Mark organised their wedding at a mystery location for their guests- organising them jump on a bus and travel 1.5 hours to the destination, which ended up being Dry Ridge Estate in Megalong Valley, in the Blue Mountains of NSW.
The day kicked off with hair and makeup by my incredibly talented wife and as the ceremony time drew closer it was awesome to watch the bus filled with all the guests arrive from the homestead up on the hill.
Michelle and Mark are not only superstars for pulling off an awesome destination wedding, but Michelle did the majority of the wedding planning pregnant, and with a newborn baby!
Lincoln their son, just 4 months old was cute as a button with his bowtie and barely made a peep all day!
Just before the ceremony, Michelle had planned to do a ‘first look’ but without the look 🙂 They quietly held hands, from around the corner of the homestead. Just taking a moment without actually seeing each other before the ceremony began. It was a pretty special moment.
Because it was super hot ( almost 40 degrees!) and the sun was harsh, I let them cool off during canapés with their guests after the ceremony, opting to whisk them away for half hour later on so we could drive around the property to get some cracking golden sunset shots. Once of which, the haze was created by my wife, ripping my car around the corner at speed to pull up the dust, which created the most amazing effect in that golden afternoon light. ( no smoke bombs needed here!) There were so many, it was hard to trim them down for this blog entry!
Dryridge Estate had so many awesome spots it was hard to choose- from the vines, the the dam, and even some friendly cows made an appearance! It’s such a beautiful property with an amazing outlook- I’d even love to bring my family here for a weekend, just to get out of the city life and relax in the open space!
Among their closest family and friends this totally in love couple danced the night away under the stars in the clear marquee, and everyone came together to pull off some awesome sparkler shots at the end!
Michelle and Mark, thanks so much for having both myself and Michelle along for the day! We had a ball in your company, and had a great time with you and your bridal party.
We wish you every happiness as you guys not only begin your life together, but with your son as well.
Gav and Michelle.
